North Orange County InterGroup of Alcoholics Anonymous is a service office that involves partnerships among groups, just as A.A. groups themselves are partnerships of individuals. It is established to carry out certain functions to all groups – functions which are better handled by a centralized office; and is maintained, supervised and supported by these groups in their general interest. It exists to aid the groups in their common purpose of carrying the A.A. message to the alcoholic who still suffers.

FUN FACT: The first group in Chicago was started by Earl T. in 1939. Earl’s story, “He Sold Himself Short” appeared in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th editions of the Big Book. Earl suggested to Bill W. that he codify the A.A. experience. This suggestion lead to “12 Points to Assure Our Future” in 1945, and was then shortened to the “12 Traditions” in 1949.
